For staff

A one day fair at the Guildhall this week gives residents and students an opportunity to learn about volunteering in Cambridge.

Representatives from a wide range of local voluntary organisations will be at Volunteer for Cambridge this Saturday. The fair, jointly hosted by Cambridge City Council and the student organisation Cambridge Hub, takes place at the Guildhall in Cambridge from 11am-4pm on Saturday 21 October. It will feature a marketplace of 90 local charities, organisations and societies that work to improve society and the environment through volunteering.

People attending will be able to speak directly to organisations working in areas including health, disability, social care, young people, education, culture, sport, the environment, anti-poverty and justice to discover more about what they do and about the volunteering opportunities available with them.

Councillor Richard Johnson, Executive Councillor for Communities, said “if you are interested in volunteering and putting something back in to our local community then Volunteer for Cambridge is for you. This event is a great way for students and residents alike to find out more about the vibrant, strong and diverse voluntary and community sector in Cambridge. With nearly 90 different organisations set to attend there is certainly something for everyone.”

For more information about the organisations taking part in Volunteer For Cambridge see https://www.cambridgehub.org/activities/volunteer-for-cambridge/faqs.

This is a drop-in event and entrance is free, but those who register to attend in advance via Eventbrite will be entered into the prize draw to win a £100 Corn Exchange voucher.
