For staff

Staff and students speak about their experiences of lockdown.

Many staff across the University are currently working from home, while some employees are still travelling into University buildings for essential work that can only be conducted on site. Previous videos have been shared of the senior leadership team of the University and other staff and students sharing their advice and experiences of coping with working during lockdown.

The most recent video showcases a range of students and employees from the University and Colleges sharing tips on what gets them through the day, including how to adapt to being away from usual working spaces such as labs and libraries, trying to complete a daily to-do list, how to observe Ramadan while revising and taking exams in isolation and celebrating a birthday in line with lockdown measures. Above all, the video participants encourage those watching to stay positive and to stay safe.

The video below features the following employees and students:

  • Professor Mary Beard, Faculty of Classics
  • Oluwaseun Ogundele, Research Assistant, Wellcome - MRC - Cambridge Stem Cell Institute
  • Areeg Emarah, Department of Engineering
  • Martin Rule (pictured), Porter at Gonville and Caius College
  • Mkpouto Pius, MPhil Genomic Medicine, Gates Cambridge Scholar
