For staff

Employer and employee representatives have agreed a joint proposal for reform of the Universities Superannuation Scheme.

The USS Joint Negotiating Committee yesterday agreed a joint proposal for reform of the Universities Superannuation Scheme - supported by both Universities UK (UUK) and the University and College Union (UCU).
Members of USS can read the details of the proposed reforms by clicking on USS News and Publications section in the Further Links section. The relevant documents are The Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) proposal for reform of the USS and FAQs.
The proposal was put to UCU members this month through a consultative ballot, which resulted in 67 per cent voting in favour of the proposed reforms.
Subject to consideration by the USS Trustee Board and the Pensions Regulator, there will be a formal consultation on the proposed changes by USS employers with all eligible employees. This is likely to start in March and last a minimum of 60 days.
This will allow all affected employees to review and comment on the proposed changes.
Further information will be shared with eligible staff in the University and Colleges in due course.
