An open meeting for all members and prospective members of USS at Cambridge was held on 28 January 2020 in the Babbage Lecture Theatre.

One of a series of meetings that keep members informed on negotiations about the USS pension scheme, this event covered the second report of the Joint Expert Panel (JEP). The report is available on the JEP website.

Anthony Odgers, the University’s Chief Financial Officer and UUK-appointed member of the USS Joint Negotiating Committee, and Daniel Weiss, Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Divinity and member of Cambridge UCU’s Executive Committee, delivered presentations on the JEP’s recommendations. Both emphasised that they welcomed the recommendations of the report, and that the University and the Union shared the ambition to reach an agreement that is acceptable to all parties.

There were questions from the audience, including about the stability of the scheme.
