Volunteers sought for Open Cambridge, Bridge the Gap and the Festival of Ideas.
University staff are always very welcome as volunteers as they are often our most enthusiastic and informative assistants.

With a host of public events set for this summer and beyond the public engagement team are looking for volunteers.
In September the University, Colleges and organisations around the city will throw open their doors for Open Cambridge.
This year ninety events are featured ranging from visits to College gardens, the fire station, museums and the mosque, allowing visitors to explore the heritage, architecture and culture of the city.
The finale to Open Cambridge is Bridge the Gap – the charity walk in which thousands of people can wonder through participating Colleges and the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology which is this year’s check point.
Volunteers are vital to help the programme run smoothly - and they will be needed again in autumn when the Festival of Ideas is held.
The Festival celebrates the arts, humanities and social sciences and runs from 20 October – 2 November, with the main days of the Festival taking place on the University’s Sidgwick Site on Saturdays 25 October and 1 November.

“We particularly need volunteers to help out on the main days of the Festival of Ideas, as well as throughout the Festival at evening talks. These events will be very busy and we will require help managing queues, providing information to the public and helping to gather feedback at events.
“Volunteering provides the opportunity to take part in unique events and also view some of the huge range of talks, demonstrations and hands-on activities we have to offer.”
