For staff

The consultation sessions will inform development of a University-wide Sustainability Strategy.

All University staff members are invited to attend a series of consultation sessions on a new University Sustainability Strategy. The Strategy, which is being developed by the Sustainability team with support from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, will encompass all aspects of sustainability (environmental, social and economic) at the University.

Three online sessions in late January will give staff members the opportunity to explore how the University might utilise its teaching, research, operations and estate to support transformation towards a sustainable environment, society and economy.

The new Strategy will be broader in scope than the current Environmental Sustainability Vision, Policy and Strategy and incorporate various non-environmental commitments. The consultation sessions form part of an initial phase of engagement with stakeholders, which will inform the development of the Strategy, which will draw together work that is already underway across the University as well as identify new areas of ambition. Attendees are encouraged to read the Green Paper before attending, to learn more about current thinking on the Sustainability Strategy.

Each of the sessions will focus on a different theme; the University’s research, operations and estate, and teaching.

Details of the sessions are as follows:

  • Consultation 1 on the 25 January, 11.30am – 1pm. This session will focus on the University’s research.
  • Consultation 2 on the 27 January, 2pm – 3.30pm. This session will focus on the University’s operations and estate.
  • Consultation 3 on the 31 January, 9.30am – 11am. This session will focus on the University’s teaching and will be held in collaboration with Cambridge Zero.

Any member of the University can attend a session. To attend, sign up on the Eventbrite page. To learn more about sustainability at Cambridge, visit the sustainability webpages
