For staff

The collegiate University launched a £2bn fundraising campaign earlier this year, focusing on Cambridge’s impact on the world.

This campaign is a tribute to collegiate working – every College and School is involved in how this story will be told

Alison Traub, Executive Director of Alumni Relations and Development

The campaign officially launched in October with a range of events. Cambridge was transformed with banners and posters featuring the campaign’s theme, ‘Dear World… Yours, Cambridge’ and passengers stepping off the train at the city’s station were be met by a poster reflecting on the transformative power of the ideas generated here.

More than £530m of the campaign’s fundraising goal has already been secured and will further enable the collegiate University to address critical global challenges. Priorities include greater support for graduate students, transforming the Biomedical Campus into a global centre, expanding West Cambridge as an international science and innovation hub, attracting more world-leading academics to lead teaching and research, and enriching the unique environment of the Colleges as central to Cambridge’s academic community and success.

The University’s previous campaign, which closed in 2011, raised £1.2bn.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz said: “Philanthropy underpins the scale of our ambition by allowing us the space to innovate, free from the constraints of political and economic change. It has a critical role in developing many of our innovative partnerships, as well as allowing institutions, academics, researchers and students the freedom to follow their intellectual curiosity.”

Executive Director of Alumni Relations and Development Alison Traub added: “This campaign is a tribute to collegiate working – every College and School is involved in how this story will be told. It provides a framework for engaging donors, alumni and academics, and gives us an opportunity to come together to secure the future of collegiate Cambridge.”
