For staff

People Matter Week is a series of events and activities for University Staff running from June 15 to 26.

The University is fully committed to ensuring the wellbeing of its staff and students. I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to attend.

Professor Jeremy Sanders, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Affairs

The effect of poor sleep on work and home life is just one of the topics tackled in the upcoming People Matter Week.

The series of events is designed to reflect the University’s duty of care to its staff and there are a whole host of ways to get involved in 2015.

Highlights include a How to Sleep session on June 25 which promises to provide attendees with an understanding of the importance of sleep on your work and home performance and includes lots of helpful tips on how to achieve good quality sleep on a regular basis.

On the same day a session called Equal Pay and a New Women’s Working Charter will look at issues around equal pay, the living wage, child care and boardroom equality.

Earlier in the programme, on June 19, this year’s lecture will be given by Professor Helen Rees OBE and will explore the evolution of the fight against HIV/AIDS in South Africa.

Professor Jeremy Sanders, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Affairs, says: “The University is fully committed to ensuring the wellbeing of its staff and students. I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to attend, and benefit from, the wide range of activities on offer during People Matter Week”

People Matter Week is held in recognition that a safe and healthy working environment contributes to the motivation, job satisfaction, performance, and creativity of all staff.

Dr Jonathan Nicholls, Registrary, says: “I am a great advocate of People Matter Week. I strongly encourage all staff to find the time to participate in the events and sessions that take place.”
