For staff

The Joint Expert Panel was set up after employers and members failed to reach agreement on benefit reform following the disputed 2017 valuation of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS). The JEP's second report, published on 13 December 2019, gives the panel’s recommendations for making future improvements to the USS valuation process and scheme governance. The report, and a summary of the recommendations, are available on the JEP’s website. Updates on USS from the University, including its submission to JEP2, are available on the USS webpages.

The report has been welcomed by Universities UK and the University and College Union and further discussions will take place in January 2020 on the recommendations made in the report.

An open meeting was held on 28 January to discuss the report with Anthony Odgers, the University’s Chief Financial Officer and UUK-appointed member of the USS Joint Negotiating Committee, and Daniel Weiss, Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Divinity and member of Cambridge UCU’s Executive Committee.
