For staff

Staff celebrating 25 years of service attended a reception hosted by the Vice-Chancellor last week.

47 members of staff were recognised for reaching the milestone this year, providing a combined total of 1,175 years of service to the University.

Representatives from across the academic schools, the University Library, Botanic Garden and several divisions of the administration gathered in the Old Schools for an evening of celebration.

Vice-Chancellor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz thanked staff for their contributions and looked ahead to a special year for the University, with several institutions and departments also celebrating significant anniversaries. The Vice-Chancellor revealed that there were two representatives from the University Library, which celebrates its 600th year, and a representative from the Fitzwilliam Museum, which celebrates its 200th year, among the Guests of Honour at the reception.

There was a high representation of staff from the scientific departments, including five from the Department of Engineering and four from the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. The University Information Service was also well represented with four members of staff receiving long-service awards.

Staff in technician roles were also out in force, with two from the Department of Earth Sciences, two from the Department of Engineering and one each from the Department of Physics and the Fitzwilliam Museum.
