For staff

Vice-Chancellor thanks staff for their 25 years of service.

“All of you have contributed to the University’s success. All of you have helped to make Cambridge the world-leading institution it is today. This is an opportunity to congratulate you and celebrate your achievement. Thank you for your service. Thank you for your leadership. Thank you for your endurance. Quite simply: Thank you”.

The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen Toope shared his appreciation to colleagues for their continued service to the University at a celebratory reception on Monday 11 July at the University Botanic Garden.

The Long Service Awards have traditionally taken place during the winter months.  Due to the challenges of the pandemic, they needed to be postponed, and this was the first in-person awards since 2019. There were 268 staff who had reached their 25-year work anniversary in the last three years, and over 100 attended the celebration last week.

During the awards, the Vice-Chancellor spoke about world events which took place 25 years ago and talked about the many changes within the University. He thanked colleagues for their input over this time and acknowledged their support for making the institution a success.
