Members and staff (including retired staff) of the University and Colleges are invited to apply for tickets to attend this year’s Honorary Degree Congregation and garden party.

The University will confer honorary doctorates at the Congregation at 2.45pm on Tuesday, 18 June 2013, at which the Chancellor, Lord Sainsbury of Turville, will preside.
The distinguished individuals the University is expecting to honour are:
Doctor of Science
Professor Daniel Kahneman – Eugene Higgins Professor of Psychology Emeritus and Professor of Psychology and Public Affairs Emeritus and Senior Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University. Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences.
Professor Joseph Stiglitz – University Professor in Finance and Economics, Columbia University. Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences. Honorary Fellow of Gonville and Caius College and Fitzwilliam College.
Dr Harold Varmus – Director of the National Cancer Institute, USA. Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine. Former Rede Lecturer.
 
Professor Ada Yonath – Martin S and Helen Kimmel Professor of Structural Biology and Director of the Helen and Milton A Kimmelman Center for Biomolecular Structure and Assembly at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. Nobel Laureate in Chemistry.
Doctor of Letters
Sir John Elliott – Regius Professor of Modern History (now History) Emeritus, University of Oxford. Balzan Prizewinner. Honorary Fellow of Trinity College and former University Lecturer in History.
Ms Hilary Mantel – Author.  Man Booker prizewinner in 2009 and 2012.
Professor Jonathan Spence – Sterling Professor of History Emeritus, Yale University. Former Reith Lecturer and Jefferson Lecturer. Honorary Fellow of Clare College.
Mr Mario Vargas Llosa – Writer. Nobel Laureate in Literature. Honorary Fellow of Churchill College and former Simón Bolívar Professor in Latin American Studies.
