For staff

Dr Sachers, who is currently Head of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, takes up her new post in May.

Regina Sachers has been appointed Head of the Registrary’s Office following the resignation of Kirsty Allen, who is moving to be Chief Operating Officer of the University Library Services. Dr Sachers, who has been Head of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office since 2016, takes up her new role in early May.

The Head of the Registrary’s Office oversees the running of the University's governance arrangements and supports the Council and its committees. The office is also responsible for statutory and regulatory compliance (including information compliance, risk management and continuity planning, emergency management, audit and value for money), and oversight of the student unions.

Dr Sachers studied comparative literature and languages in Munich and Cambridge and gained her PhD, on Goethe’s poetry, from the German department at Cambridge. She subsequently lectured in German in Belfast and Oxford before moving into university administration, first at the University of Göttingen then in the Vice-Chancellor’s Office at Cambridge.

The Registrary, Emma Rampton, said “I am delighted that Regina has been appointed to lead the Registrary’s Office.  She brings to the role a deep understanding of university administration, the collegiate University and the University’s governance structures. Regina’s outstanding judgement and insight will be of great value in this position and I am very much looking forward to working with her.”

Dr Sachers said: "I am very pleased to become the new Head of the Registrary’s Office. I greatly enjoyed my time at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, not least managing the transition between Vice-Chancellorships in the last couple of years. At a time of increasing international competition, domestic regulatory restraints and political uncertainty, I now look forward to working with Emma and the team at the Registrary’s Office to support the University to meet the challenges ahead."

After Regina takes up her new role, Dr Ángel Gurría-Quintana will be seconded as acting Head of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office.
