For staff

A new series of online support sessions for University staff gets underway this month.

Calm Space, run by the Staff Counselling Centre, consists of weekly sessions that will help staff manage the stresses and strains of everyday life.

The launch of Calm Space coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week 2023, which this year focusses on anxiety. Attending a Calm Space session may be particularly beneficial for those feeling anxious, worried or low in energy or mood. The sessions involve relaxation, mindfulness practice and other restorative techniques. Any staff member can attend the sessions, which will be delivered by a qualified counsellor.

The Calm Space sessions will run every week on Wednesday lunchtimes from 17 May to 19 July. With no need to book in advance or commit, staff can attend as many or as few of the 30-minute sessions as they like. The sessions will run on Teams and there is no requirement to speak or have a camera on. Further information, including the link to join the meeting, is available on the Calm Space webpage.

The Staff Counselling Centre provides a range of services for University staff. More information about the Staff Counselling Centre is available on the Centre's website.
