Nominations open for inaugural awards event recognising outstanding apprentices and apprentice champions at Cambridge.

The awards

Personal and Professional Development (PPD) is proud to announce the launch of the University of Cambridge Apprenticeship Awards 2021. These awards recognise and celebrate the growth of apprenticeships and their positive contribution to the University.

This inaugural event:                                                                                            

  • celebrates the success of those who have achieved their apprenticeships
  • recognises apprentices who have made a real difference to their workplace and used an apprenticeship to boost their career
  • also recognises the individuals who champion and promote apprenticeships in their school/department and across the University

The awards will take place online on Wednesday 23 June, 2pm to 2.45pm. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen J Toope, will open the event and winners will be announced by Professor David Cardwell, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Strategy and Planning.

Nominations

If you, or someone you work with, is an oustanding apprentice, or champions and promotes apprenticeships, PPD welcomes your nominations for the awards. The deadline for nominations is 30 April 2021. Staff can nominate a colleague or put themselves forward.

Nominations for Apprenticeship Awards in 2021 will be for the following categories:

  • Apprentice of the Year – Intermediate Level 2 (GCSE level)
  • Apprentice of the Year – Advanced Level 3 ( A Level)
  • Apprentice of the Year – Higher or Degree Level 4 to Level 7 (Degree or Master’s degree)
  • Apprenticeship Champion

Apprenticeships at the University

An apprenticeship is a job accompanied by training that meets an approved national standard (monitored by the Institute for Apprenticeships) and can be offered to existing employees as well as to new starters.
