Professor Julie Ahringer of the Gurdon Institute

Professor Julie Ahringer, Director and Senior Group Leader at the Wellcome Trust/ Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute, will receive the Genetics Society of America’s George W. Beadle Award for outstanding contributions to the community of genetics researchers.

The Genetics Society of America honours outstanding contributions to genetics with a series of annual awards.

The George W. Beadle Award 2020 specifically recognises Professor Ahringer’s “development of critical tools and key datasets for studies of genetics and transcriptional regulation in Caenorhabditis elegans and beyond”.

Professor Ahringer said “I'm very honoured to have been selected to receive the Beadle award.  I want to recognise and thank past and present members of my lab - the award directly reflects their amazing contributions - and also my many collaborators and colleagues in the worm field. It's been hugely rewarding seeing the great science facilitated by our work.”
