For staff

This is a message for staff who are in receipt of EU awards. Administrators in departments and other institutions are requested to forward this email to staff in their area.

Dear colleagues,

In light of the ongoing uncertainty created by the possibility of ‘no-deal’ Brexit, we would like to issue further assurances to all staff wholly or partly employed in European Commission awards.

With regards to EC funding, the UK government has committed to underwrite all Horizon 2020 awards that are submitted (and subsequently awarded) until exit day.

The University is liaising with UKRI to ensure that awards and funds are transitioned into a UK scheme seamlessly and with as little disruption to projects as possible. However, if any disruption were to occur, the University is committed to covering any gap in funding.

This means that for all staff employed on EC funded projects, there will be no gap in their funding or salary in the event of a ‘no deal’ Brexit.

How we will communicate with you:

Information on immigration, research funding, mobility and other key issues is available on the University’s Brexit webpages, which includes all the latest information about the implications of leaving the EU without a deal. Click on the following link or cut and paste it into your web browser:

Staff may like to familiarise themselves with issues relating to travel, including the latest advice on insurance and visiting the EU. There are also links to government and other external guidance.

These pages will be updated regularly as new information comes to light, and any further email messages sent to staff and students will also be published here. If you have particular concerns or questions, relevant contact details are also provided. Please note that Colleges will communicate directly with their staff and students.

We will continue to engage with government and policy makers to have as much clarity as possible, will monitor the situation closely, and update you accordingly.

With best wishes,
