For staff

Staff and students are invited to comment on proposed changes to the University’s disciplinary process in a six-week consultation.

The disciplinary framework aims to encourage members of our community to behave “according to agreed standards of behaviour”. The proposed changes come as a result of the ongoing work of the Review Committee on Discipline. It is hoped that proposals will ensure that the discipline policy and procedure is accessible and fit for purpose.

Under the consultation, staff and students are asked to give their views on five questions, including whether the standard of proof for the consideration of student misconduct should be changed, the subject of a recent Senate House Discussion.

Other questions relate to what the penalties for misconduct should be, whether allegations should be considered by both the University and the student’s College and whether alumni should be included within the disciplinary process.

The consultation document setting out the changes can be found here  http://www.studentcomplaints.admin.cam.ac.uk/consultation

Responses should relate directly to the proposed changes outlined in the consultation, and can be from groups or from individuals.

They should be sent to OSCCA@admin.cam.ac.uk by 22 June 2018.

All responses will be passed to the Review Committee on Student Discipline for consideration.
