Darin Weinberg's book Contemporary Social Constructionism (2014, Temple) has been awarded the 2018 Melvin Pollner Prize by the American Sociological Association's section on Ethnomethodology and Conversation Analysis.
The Melvin Pollner Prize in Ethnomethodology honors the intellectual spirit and memory of Melvin Pollner. The $1000 award recognizes an article, chapter, or book published between 2013-2017, that develops original work drawing upon, or resonant with, Melvin Pollner's ethnomethodological interests in topics such as mundane reason, reality disjunctures, radical reflexivity, and the connections and contributions of ethnomethodology to other types of sociology.
Darin Weinberg is a Reader in Sociology at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of King's College. His research focuses on the application of concepts of addiction, mental illness, and learning disability in various historical and contemporary contexts, particularly as used in state-sponsored campaigns of social welfare and social control.
