For staff

Professor Chris Young will succeed Professor Martin Millet in January 2019.

Professor Chris Young has been appointed Head of School in the School of Arts and Humanities and will take up the post following a period of research leave.

Currently Deputy Head of School, a position he has held since 2014, Professor Young has chaired a committee that introduced two new joint Triposes, has been Director of the Arts and Humanities Research Council Doctoral Training Partnership, and has served on the General Board and its Education Committee. He also held the role of Acting University Librarian from October 2016 until March 2017, ahead of the arrival of Dr Jessica Gardner.

Professor Young said: “It has been a great pleasure to work with Professor Millett and many others in Mill Lane over the last few years as the School has mapped out its ten-year vision. I am looking forward to continuing this work and facing new challenges after a period of research and reflection.”
