Professor Phil Allmendinger will coordinate the collegiate University’s plans for growth, housing and sustainability in Cambridge and the wider region.

The Vice Chancellor is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Phil Allmendinger as his Senior Adviser on Regional Affairs. Professor Allmendinger is Head of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Professor of Land Economy, and brings a wealth of academic and professional expertise to his new role.

As Senior Adviser on Regional Affairs, Professor Allmendinger will coordinate the long-term vision of the Collegiate University for growth, transport, housing, and environmental sustainability in Cambridge.

Professor Allmendinger is one of the world’s leading planning theorists, whose work has strong links to policy and practice in the UK and elsewhere, in addition to being a Chartered Town Planner and Chartered Surveyor. He has advised successive governments on planning, housing and development issues and has been the University’s representative on the Board of the Greater Cambridge Partnership.

Prior to his academic career Professor Allmendinger worked for five years in local government.
